PARIS: Rafa Nadal won a record-extending eighth French Open title when he beat fellow Spaniard David Ferrer 6-3 6-2 6-3 in Sunday’s final. Third seed Nadal becomes the first man to win eight singles titles at the same grand slam tournament. Earlier, he survived the scare of being interrupted by a bare-chested protestor who jumped on to court with a red flare before moving into a 6-3 6-2 lead in the French Open final against Ferrer on Sunday.
